Meet Clara

Clara French tutor

Salut! I'm Clara, a native online and in-person private French tutor, based in Sydney Eastern Suburbs.

I was born near Paris and grew up on the West coast of France in a little village next to Nantes. No one ever goes there but it's actually great! You can't find more French than me! I am 100% French on both sides of my family and I grew up eating cheese, bread and butter at every meal.

I am passionate about sharing my language, which I (objectively) think is the most beautiful language in the world! I live in Sydney surrounded by Australians, and as much as I love them, I miss speaking my beautiful language. I love how French effortlessly sounds poetic, even when we have something to complain about.

I have now been tutoring French for 5 years to students with different levels (from complete beginners to fluent students), different age (from high school to retired students), and different needs. I have helped students with various exams, including Year 12 exams (HSC, VCE, QCAA), IB and DELF - who have all achieved great results.

My goal is to be able to share my love for the French language and its culture, in interactive and fun classes, to help you gain the knowledge and confidence you need! I have always loved French grammar and how personalised it is, so I also love to teach this fundamental aspect of the language in a concise and understandable way! I am not a French textbook or Duolingo, so you can expect me to teach you practical, simple and useful French!

MY APPROACH

What I value the most in my teaching is INDEPENDANCE. I am dedicated to helping my students build strong foundations on how the French language works, so that they can easily speak and make up their own sentences rather than learn
pre-made sentences that will only work in very specific situations.

I believe in making grammar easy, practical and entertaining, putting it into situations, or making it a game. I also love to share my music recommendations, great instagram and youtube pages to follow and funny anecdotes about the language.

I think learning a language opens so many doors, and goes way beyond being able to speak it or understand it.
